Whole Rock Major and Trace Element Chemistry for Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic Rocks from Eastern to Southwest Interior Alaska

This dataset consists of one table containing whole-rock geochemistry data for 926 rocks from eastern, central, and southwestern interior Alaska, plus analytical results for concurrently analyzed geochemical standard materials. All materials in the present study were analyzed by ALS Global between 2014 and 2025 using a range of different techniques, so multiple unique entries for a given element relate to different analytical methods or preparations, as detailed in accompanying metadata, and summarized in a supporting Data Dictionary tabular data file. Most samples analyzed in the present study were collected by U.S. Geological Survey researchers between 2014 and 2024, but the dataset also includes new analyses of legacy samples collected by the Alaska Department of Geological & Geophysical Surveys, the U.S. Bureau of Mines, and U.S. Geological Survey. Most legacy samples were analyzed during previous studies, but the original data are of varying quality due to a range of different analytical methods that often have higher detection limits and/or employ partial digestion methods. The original geochemical data and analytical method information for those analyses are compiled in Granitto et al. (2024). The data are formatted such that a null or empty cell indicates no analysis was conducted or the element concentration was not reportable by that method. A negative value indicates that the concentration was less than the lower detection limit of the method, with the numerical value indicating the detection limit. A positive value ending in .1111 indicates a concentration above the upper detection limit of the method.
