Growth and capture mark recapture data from giant gartersnakes (Thamnophis gigas) in rice irrigation canals 2018 to 2023
These data support a study modeling the growth, capture, and survival of giant gartersnakes (Thamnophis gigas). We captured giant gartersnakes inhabiting rice irrigation canals in the Sacramento Valley, California, USA from 2018 to 2023. We analyzed capture-mark-recapture data from 19 populations of giant gartersnakes sampled with an integrated growth-survival model. We tested how growth and survival of snakes relates to the amount of rice grown in the surrounding landscape.
