Sediment chemistry in nearshore Bellingham Bay, urban creeks and the Nooksack River, Puget Sound, Washington, March and September 2019

Concentrations of individual polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and chlorinated pesticides are reported for surface sediments collected along the nearshore of Bellingham Bay, the Nooksack River, and four urban creeks discharging to Bellingham Bay in March 2019. Additional samples were collected along the nearshore urban waterfront corridor in September 2019. All samples were sieved to remove material 2 millimeter (mm) and larger in diameter. At one location (ST-5), an additional three samples were submitted to investigate chemical concentration dependence on particle-size (sieved to < 0.5 mm, < 0.125 mm, and < 0.0625 mm). Grain size distribution and organic carbon content on bulk (unsieved) samples are also reported. For a subset of samples, organic carbon content was also determined on the < 2 mm fraction.
