Soil sample analyses of texture, organic matter, total organic carbon, and total nitrogen from selected deconstruction sties in St. Louis, Missouri, 2020

The text file "Soil_sample_analyses_2.txt" contains results of discrete soil samples (surface samples) collected at selected vacant lot locations in St. Louis, Missouri, in June and July of 2020. Soil samples were collected from 35 legacy or standard demolition lots and 35 Urban Greening Program (green) demolition lots. Soil samples also were collected at the restored Calvary Prairie in the Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Sample results include soil particle size (percent sand, silt, clay) which indicates texture, soil organic matter in percent, total organic carbon, in percent; and total nitrogen, in percent. Samples were analyzed by the Kansas State University Soils Testing Laboratory, Manhattan, Kansas. Particle size analyses were conducted using methods described in Bouyoucos (1962). Organic matter analyses were conducted using colorimetric analysis of a heat of dilution modification as provided in North Central Agricultural Experiment Stations (2012) and using a Model PC910 Fiber Optic Spectrophotometer. Total organic carbon and total nitrogen analyses were conducted using methods described in LECO (2005).
