Water Data for McAllister Creek at Site MC2 (ver. 1.1, December, 2019)

An upward-looking acoustic Doppler velocity meter (ADVM; Sontek XR, 1.5 MHz) was deployed in McAllister Creek at site MC2 (N 47o 05’ 43”/W 122o 43’ 38”) and continuously recorded water velocity, temperature and water level at 5-minute intervals from September 26, 2016 to October 14, 2016 (18 days), and at 15-minute intervals from December 2, 2016 to May 25, 2017 (174 days) except for the period of March 6 – 11, 2017 when the sensor was removed for maintenance and battery replacement. The site is tidally influenced and located approximately 0.7 km upstream from the mouth of McAllister Creek. The measurement averaging interval for the ADVM was 60 s. The blanking distance was set at 0.5 m and the cell end was set at 4.5 m. The ADVM was deployed in profiling mode with no dynamic adjustment and measured velocities in up to 10 cells of 0.4 m size. The ADVM was mounted on an aluminum grate on the channel bed and remained in the same location during the deployment periods. The top of the ADVM was surveyed by RTN-GPS. The water surface was surveyed by RTN-GPS at the time of water level measurements by the sensor and results were used to determine an offset (-1.59 m) for converting water depth to water surface elevation (NAVD88). Water temperature ranged from 1.5 to 17.5 degrees C. Water depth ranged from 0.81 to 5.58 m. The East component of the 3-D velocity vector (Ve) ranged from -0.25 to 0.41 m/s, the North component of the velocity vector (Vn) ranged from -0.90 to 1.12 m/s and the upward velocity component (Vu) ranged from -0.09 to 0.05 m/s. The signal-to-noise ratio ranged from 31.4 to 77.1 decibels (dB). Speed is the absolute value of the water velocity magnitude and ranged from 0.00 to 1.20 m/s. Degrees True North (Dtn) is the directional heading of the water speed in degrees from True North and ranged from 0 to 360°. Data gaps of 15-minutes or more were reported as “NA”.
