Reanalysis of the Medina/Diversion Lake System Water-Budget, with Estimated Recharge to Edwards Aquifer, San Antonio Area, Texas
In 2004, a hydrologic water-budget analysis was conducted and the results published in the report, Water-Budget Analysis of Medina and Diversion Lakes and the Medina/Diversion Lake System, With Estimated Recharge to the Edwards Aquifer, San Antonio Area, Texas (SIR 2004-5209)(Slattery and Miller, 2004). This data release contains the hydrologic water-budget data used in a reanalysis of the data as well as the results of the reanalysis. The hydrologic water-budget data used was derived from selected columns of data found in table 5 of the report. The columns of selected data include the time period in which the data were collected, the number of days used to obtain the average groundwater outflow, the standard deviation of the groundwater outflow data, the average groundwater outflow, and the average Medina Lake stage. Within these columns of data are 127 water-budget periods ranging from 8 to 78 days from daily hydrologic data collected during 1955 to 1964, 1995 to 1996, and 2001 to 2002. An .R script file was constructed to perform the statistical calculations using the R programming language (R-3.3.2). The R script instructions included statistical test for a linear-linear least-squares regression analysis, a linear-linear weighted least-squares regression analysis, and a log-log weighted least-squares analysis correlating the relation of Medina Lake stage (water-surface elevation in feet [ft] above the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929) to groundwater recharge (GWout) from the Medina/Diversion Lake System. The .R script output also produces text files that contain the results of the statistical analysis as well as a graphical representation of the results.
