    <descript>
This map shows specific water-quality items and hydrologic data site
information which come from QWDATA (Water Quality) and GWSI (Ground
Water Information System). Both QWDATA and GWSI are subsystems of
NWIS (National Water Inventory System)of the USGS (United States
Geologic Survey).

This map is for Washington County, Utah.

The scope and purpose of NWIS is defined on the web site:

http://water.usgs.gov/public/pubs/FS/FS-027-98/
<purpose>The purpose of this work is to illustrate, specific water-quality data
for Washington County in the State of Utah and distribute it over the
internet.</purpose>
<supplinf>QWDATA has an extensive inventory of water-quality samples, however only 16
water-quality parameters are shown.

NWIS has a large number of data sites for each county, however only
those sites which have the requisite water-quality parameters are shown.

This Arc Info coverage is for Washington County, Utah.

Arc Info 'point' coverages are created and used to make the illustrations.

To make the coverages, data are extracted from the QWDATA subsystem of
the NWIS database.

These data are:

staid Station ID
sname Station name
dates Dates
medim Medium (station type)
72000 Elev LSD, ft NGVD (same as alt_va)
72008 Depth of well, ft (same as well_depth_va)
72019 WL, Depth below land, ft
70301 Dissolved solids, mg/l
00010 Water Temp, degree C
00059 Flow rate, inst, gpm
00095 Specific Conductance, field, US/cm @ 25 C
00400 pH, wh, field
00410 ANC (alkalinity), field, mg/l CaCO3
00613 Nitrogen Nitrate, mg/l as N
00619 Ammonia unionize, mg/l as N
00900 Hardness total, mg/l CaCO3

Hydrologic Data Site coverages from GWSI are combined with these data
in order to project the new coverages in decimal degrees. Hydrologic
Data Site coverages were created in decimal degrees.

Items in the Hydrologic Data Site coverages are:

1. lat_va Latitude, dms (degree, minute, second)
2. long_va Longitude, dms
