    <descript>
A soil-water balance model (SWB) was developed to estimate
potential recharge to the groundwater system in Brunswick, New
Hanover, and Pender counties North Carolina 1980 through 2016 to
support a regional groundwater flow model being produced for the
surficial, Castle Hayne, and Peedee Aquifer System. The SWB model
was not calibrated; however, various water budget components from
the model output compared reasonably well with other estimates
including evapotranspiration rates reported by NASA's MODIS
(Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) satellite platform.
This USGS data release contains all the input and output files for
the simulations described in this data release.
<purpose>This model was created to estimate recharge to the groundwater
flow system in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties in North
Carolina. The development of the model input and output files included
in this model archive were created to support a regional groundwater
flow model being produced for ehe surficial, Castle Hayne, and Peedee
Aquifer System. The development of the model input and output files
included in this data release are documented as described in this data
release.</purpose>
<supplinf>Support is provided for correcting errors in the data release
and clarification of the modeling conducted by the U.S. Geological
Survey. Users are encouraged to review the SWB model documentation report
(https://pubs.usgs.gov/tm/tm6-a31/). The model will run successfully
only if the original directory structure is correctly restored. The model
archive is broken into several pieces to reduce the likelihood of
download timeouts. Instructions for reconstructing the original directory
structure and running the models included in this data release and
described in report can be found in the readme.txt ASCII file which can
be downloaded as part of this data release.</supplinf>
