These samples were collected from an outcrop located in Carters Grove, Virginia (19 samples), and the Phred1 core located west of Vero Beach, Florida (10 samples). Six samples from the Phred1 core were barren of planktic foraminifera. Samples were then washed over a 63 μm sieve until all mud material was removed. Samples were then oven dried at ≤50 °C. Specimens were placed on a Plummer slide (60 cell faunal micro slide) for identification and sorting. Foraminifers were manipulated with a fine (0000) paintbrush under an incident light microscope and fixed to the slide using a weak, water-soluble glue. Individual specimens were identified to species level. Data published by others are not included in this release. Foraminifers were grouped by species and fixed in place on slides, and additional washed residue for the samples from Carters Grove, Va are physically archived at the U.S. Geological Survey, Reston, Va, 20192.
