    <descript>
This vector data set represents the inner wall polylines used to hydrologically condition the digital elevation model within the Louisiana StreamStats study area.
      <purpose>Data were obtained in order to support the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for basin delineation database in Louisiana, and for incorporation into the Louisiana StreamStats application. These data were developed as part of a USGS study, done in cooperation with the Louisiana Department of Transportation, to delineate drainage areas for user-selected locations on streams, and then determine basin characteristics and estimates of flow statistics for the selected locations within the Louisiana StreamStats application.</purpose>

        <procdesc>USGS National Hydrography Datasets (NHD), National Elevation Datasets (NED, aka Digital Elevation Model (DEM)), Hydrologic Unit 8 (HU8) and the Hydrologic Unit 12 (HU12) geodatabases covering Louisiana were downloaded from The National Map, National Geospatial Program, U.S. Geological Survey. Each HU8 was projected into USA Contiguous Albers Equal Area Conic USGS (WKID 102039) using the Esri ‘Project’ tool. This NED, NHD,and HU12 inwall datasets for each 8-digit Hydrologic Unit (HU) polygon in Louisiana were partitioned and merged into separate watershed HU8 watershed folders covering Louisiana's Watershed. For each HU8 contains multiple HU12 watersheds or inwalls were reviewed and sometimes modified based on the DEM flow accumulation flowline raster image, basmaps, aerial photographs within each individual HU8 guiding the best selections of inwalls, flowlines and pour points. All HU8 inwall layers were merged into a statewide MergeInwall shapefile.</procdesc>
