      <abstract>This child item data set contains acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) data collected during 2023 from an uplooking tripod in Sodus Bay (USGS station number 431533076582101). This data set includes the raw binary data files from the ADCPs as well as tabulated text files of echo intensity, backscatter, velocity, and ancillary data. Tables were created by processing raw data files in R-language oceanographic package OCE (Kelley and others, 2022) and TRDI WinRiver II (Teledyne RD Instruments, 2007). All aggregation, manual magnetic variation calculations, and post-processing were completed using Python libraries pandas (McKinney, 2010) and NumPy (Harris and others, 2020).</abstract>
      <purpose>These data were collected in cooperation with New York Sea Grant, the Cooperative Science and Monitoring Initiative, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as part of a larger study of primary production in the Bays of Lake Ontario.</purpose>

        <procdesc>Data were collected using ADCPs mounted to fixed fiberglass tripods. Before deployment, the ADCP compass was calibrated, the clock synced, built-in predployment tests were run, and deployment commands were sent to the instrument. Data were recorded on internal memory cards. 48 volt DC power was supplied to the ADCP from internal battery packs.</procdesc>

Echo intensity was subset by beams 1-4 and the average of the four beams was included as a fifth table. Velocity tables were then subset in component form as North, East, Vertical, and Error Velocity. A time-series table was also created to include one-dimensional parameters: roll, pitch, heading, transmit current, transmit voltage, ambient temperature, and attitude temperature.</procdesc>
