    <descript>
This dataset contains metals concentrations of surface water samples processed using two different filter sizes (0.03 micron and 10 micron) from the Florida River and two of its tributaries, Pine Creek and Salt Creek, within the Southern Ute Indian Reservation in southern Colorado. The surface water samples were collected during three sampling events in April 2022, May 2022, and August–September 2022. The data will aid investigators in understanding the sources and seasonality of aluminum in the Florida River.
      <purpose>These data were collected to better understand the sources of aluminum in surface water in the Florida River in southern Colorado.</purpose>
      <supplinf>Samples were submitted to the U.S. Geological Survey Mineral Resources Program's Analytical Chemistry laboratory, who subcontracts sample analysis to SGS Canada Laboratory. All results contained in this data release were analyzed by the subcontracted SGS Canada Laboratory.</supplinf>

    <attracc>
      <attraccr>The data are considered accurate. Internal laboratory quality-control results of laboratory control samples, performed with each batch of submitted samples at a rate of 10 percent, were reviewed by the authors of this data release and confirm the accuracy of the data. Field quality-control sample data collected for this project are included in this dataset. Environmental results within 5 times the highest field blank detection were rejected because of the possibility of sample bias, except for aluminum and sodium results. These potentially biased results were retained because of their relevance to planned interpretation of the data. To document the potential bias of these samples in this dataset, the highest blank detection was noted in the result comment. In some instances, when review of field blank detections resulted in rejection of an environmental result, field quality-control data in this dataset may not be associated with corresponding environmental results, as rejected environmental data were removed from this dataset. Replicate quality-control data in this dataset may be used to better understand environmental variability and other sources of variability in the data, but these quality-control data were not used to reject any environmental data in this dataset. Analytical result values are presented with the same number of significant figures that were provided by the laboratory.</attraccr>
