This Geographic Information System dataset contains shapefiles of 200-foot stream buffers for the 15 study watersheds in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The stream buffers are based on flowlines from the high resolution, 1:24,000-scale National Hydrography Dataset.
<purpose>The purpose of this dataset is to provide a 200-foot stream buffers Geographic Information System shapefile used in the study of 15 Gwinnett County watersheds. The 200-foot stream buffers were used to evaluate the effects of impervious areas near streams on hydrology in the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Scientific Investigations Report "Hydrology, water-quality, and watershed characteristics in 15 watersheds in Gwinnett County, Georgia, 2002-20". This study is part of a long-term program to monitor and analyze the hydrologic and water-quality conditions of 15 watersheds in Gwinnett County, Georgia by the USGS in cooperation with Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources.</purpose>
