    <descript>
This dataset was produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Wyoming Water Development Office for the purpose of calculating basin characteristics in preparation for the Wyoming StreamStats application. These datasets are raster representations of various environmental, geological, and land use attributes with the Wyoming StreamStats study area and will be served in the Wyoming StreamStats application to describe delineated watersheds. The StreamStats application provides access to spatial analytical tools that are useful for water-resources planning and management, and for engineering and design purposes. The map-based user interface can be used to delineate drainage areas, get basin characteristics and estimates of flow statistics. To aid in parameterization of mechanistic, statistical, and machine learning models of hydrologic systems in the Wyoming StreamStats study area, flow-conditioned parameter grids (FCPGs) have been generated describing upstream basin elevation, slope, level III and IV ecoregion codes, hydrologic regions, land cover classification, waterbodies, first of the month snow water equivalent (Jan-Jun), soil type, average soil permeability, evapotranspiration Spring and Summer, and modeled 30-year normal climatologies of average annual total precipitation, average monthly total precipitation, average annual daily mean temperature, and average monthly daily mean temperature values within the Wyoming StreamStats study area.
      <purpose>Data were obtained to support the U.S. Geological Survey update of the regression equations for Wyoming and for the incorporation into the Wyoming StreamStats application to describe characteristics of delineated watersheds.This FCPG dataset provides seamless basin characteristics for the Wyoming StreamStats study area to allow the parameterization and application of mechanistic, statistical, and machine learning models at a 10-meter scale.</purpose>

    <native>These datasets were generated in CentOS, USGS Yeti Supercomputer, U.S. Geological Survey, https://doi.org/10.5066/F7D798MJ. Software used include FCPGtools, Python 3.6.10, openmpi 3.1.4, tauDEM 5.3.8, and gdal 2.4.1. These layers were generated in Windows 10 using a combination of ArcInfo, ArcMap 10.7.1, and ArcGIS Pro 3.0.3. Grouped by month, and then reduce within groups by mean; the result is an image collection with one image for each month. For spring seasonal means, filter the MODIS data to only include imagery from the given months, 3-6 (Mar-Jun). For summer seasonal means, filter the MODIS data to only include imagery from the given months, 7-10 (Jul-Oct). Reduce ET using mean and divide by 4 to convert to monthly average. <procdesc>To create the hydro_reg.tif, the Hydrologic Regions feature layer was downloaded and extended in the following areas using the noted sources below:

1. On the western boundary between Rocky Mountain (region 1) and Overthrust Belt (region 5) the original Hydrologic Regions feature boundary was used and everything outside of the original feature layer was defined to be Overthrust Belt (region 5). This was done by reviewing two of the Level III Ecoregions (Upper Snake River Plain and Eastern Snake River Basalt Plains) boundaries and the 8-digit Hydrologic Unit Codes (HUC).

2. On the northern boundary there was only one Hydrologic Regions feature, Central Basins and Eastern Plains (region 2), which it was extended to the study area boundary after reviewing the Level III Ecoregions (Middle Rockies and Northern Great Plains).

3. On the eastern boundary there was only one Hydrologic Regions feature Eastern Basins (region 3), which it was extended to the study area boundary after reviewing the three Level III Ecoregions (Northwestern Great Plains, Nebraska Sand Hills, and High Plains) and the 8-digit HUC.

4. On the southern boundary only a small portion of the Hydrologic Regions feature Rocky Mountain (region 1) was extended to include the study area boundary. There was one small boundary change to the Rocky Mountain (region 1) feature near the boundary shown in figure 7 of WRIR03-4107 after reviewing the three Level III Ecoregions (Wasatch and Uinta Mountains, Wyoming Basin, and Colorado Plateaus) and the 8-digit HUC.

The extended polygons were then converted to a raster using the dem.tif, the REGION attribute (regions 1 through 6), and masked to the study area boundary.</procdesc>
