<procdesc>Large (1.25–2.5 cm3) sediment samples were used for pollen extraction due to copious quantities of sand that required removal. Pollen extraction
was completed using an adapted Faegri & Iverson (1989) technique. Sieving at 150 µm was completed between hydrofluoric acid treatments to
remove sand, and multiple hydrofluoric acid treatments were completed to remove large amounts of silt and clay. Lycopodium tablets were added
to each sample for pollen concentration calculations, and pollen residue was stained and mounted in silicon oil. If Erodium was not encountered on
a slide, another one was prepared and scanned, if no Erodium on the second slide was found, a third was prepared and scanned. It no Erodium
found on the third slide, it was determined to not be present</procdesc>
