Data were collected the number of bees captured per date, per field, and identified to genus. Net level data contains 16,229 records. To our knowledge this is the first examination of the effect of USDA pollinator habitat plantings on pollinator abundance and diversity that has been done. Bees were numbered, pinned and assigned barcodes containing date and field location the day after field collection. Bees were then identified to genus by a taxonomist and their associated barcodes were scanned into an .xls file and labeled. A general tabular summary of counts per day/field was done to assure accuracy of specimen numbers. An additional taxonomic review of specimens was done in the Gillette Museum at Colorado State University in 2017. All data values fall within expected range and field/lab/taxonomic data were a match in the final dataset. Preliminary field collection numbers were often not accurate as some specimens escaped. A potential shortcoming could be a small percentage of misidentified bees but precautions were taken and the taxonomist who authored "The Bees of Colorado" identified all specimens. Dataset is considered complete for the information presented, as described in the abstract. Users are advised to read the rest of the metadata record carefully for additional details. No spatial aspect to this data Data collected were recorded as tabular data. Tabular data were organized by paired fields, per season, and per year and statistically analyzed using a multi-response permutation procedure for randomized blocks. Adjustments were made to account for trapping efficiency by using a sample-based rarefaction for each identified time period of collection.
