This point data set contains streamflow-measurement sites in the Elkhorn and Loup River
basins and selected streamflow-measurement sites in the Niobrara and Platte River basins
in north-central Nebraska. At these 531 sites, flows ranging from no flow to 2,600 cubic feet
per second were measured or observed during November 8 to 21, 2006. Measurements were
made by several different methods, including current meters, flumes, and acoustic Doppler
velocimeters. Each measurement site location was recorded using a handheld global
positioning system (GPS) unit and then downloaded and stored in a computer spreadsheet.
Stored coordinates were used to produce point features in GIS native format.
<purpose>This data set was developed to archive the streamflow measurements collected for streams
in the Loup and Elkhorn River basins and selected streams in the Platte and Niobrara River
basins in November 2006. The data are suitable for use with geographic information systems
(GIS). The data set also includes the geographic coordinates of each measurement site.</purpose>

Also, the authors appreciate the support of personnel from the Lower Loup, Lower Platte North, Upper Loup, and Upper Elkhorn Natural Resources Districts (NRD) who were critical to its success by providing site selection assistance to identify favorable access to streams, coordinating stream access with local landowners, and logistical assistance during data collection.</datacred>
