Empirical seed transfer zones for Chylismia brevipes in the Mojave Desert
These raster data layers provide empirical seed transfer zones for Chylismia brevipes within the Mojave Desert ecoregion. Seed transfer zones are based on a multivariate spatial model linking variation in potentially adaptive genetic loci with gradients in climate, including variation in precipitation and temperature. Empirical seed transfer zones delineate areas within which seeds may be transferred with limited risk of maladaptation. Although no common garden or reciprocal transplant experiments have been conducted to directly test the effectiveness of these layers, genetic variation within the species suggests that restricting seed transfer between these zones may increase efficacy of restoration treatments by reducing the risk of maladaptation.
